Known as a tough player who knew how to play the game, Jerry Leone was a three year starter for the Terrier nine at second base. In 1960, his senior year, he captained the Terrier team and batted .380. He was named to the 1960 Greater Boston League All-Star Team. Jerry is a baseball “lifer.”
He signed a professional contract with The Kansas City Athletics in 1961, playing for Visalia in the California League.
Prior to attending BU Jerry, made the Hearst (Newspaper) New England All-Star Team four years, advancing to its Fenway Park stage.
Following his stint with the Athletics he played a year for the Augusta Millionaires in the Down East League and another two years for the Presque Isle Indians of the Maine-New Brunswick League.
After a ten year playing career in the Boston Park League Jerry was inducted into the Boston Park League Hall of Fame in 1991.
In 1991 Jerry was elected to the E. Mass. Football Coaches Hall of Fame. |
